On March 7, the Passwordless Alliance took part in the “Passwordless Seminar: The Key to Next-Generation Authentication Security,” hosted by the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) in South Korea. The event served as an important opportunity to share the Alliance’s vision and technological capabilities in building a safer and more convenient digital environment amid growing threats caused by password leaks.
90% of Security Incidents Start with Passwords
Lee Jae-seop, Chairman of the Passwordless Alliance (former Director of ITU Standardization Bureau), opened the seminar by stating, “80 to 90 percent of all security incidents begin with the leakage of end-user passwords,” emphasizing the urgent need to adopt passwordless technology. The Passwortless Alliance is addressing these issues by providing the internationally standardized X.1280 technology free of charge to B2C services worldwide and introducing a new security paradigm where service providers, not users, bear the responsibility for authentication.
